Kenny The Monk

Another highlight of the Neuroleadership Summit in San Francisco was the gala dinner, with Kenny Moore (Kenny The Monk) who shared his very inspiring story and thoughts on changing the corporate world. I asked him after dinner if we could video our conversation as I knew he’d inspire more than just me – it was one of those moments that leave you feeling privileged and wishing you could share it with everyone. So I hope you’re encouraged, cheered on to step out and take the risk you’ve been contemplating, and live the dream you sometimes squash.

Seize the Day!!! And make yourself accountable so you don’t shrink back in any way. If you can see it, you can achieve it. This is absolutely true, but you need the will to follow through when discouragement tries to take hold. Hang in there and keep believing in your dream.

As Eleanor Roosevelt said “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

She also said – “You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience by which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.”

Cheering you on,

The Hub – Bathurst

Who loves a fabulous cafe?

We were delighted to discover The HUB Espresso Bar & Eatery in Bathurst recently, having lunched there with friends. We went back the next morning for breakfast before traveling home and were further impressed. Apart from the fact that they have the best gluten-free bread ever (fruit toast, sourced from a local bakery) all of the food was high quality, the service was prompt, the staff friendly and helpful – and the vibe! It felt like many people were regulars – I sensed that (apart from the obvious) it’s a place that’s consistently good, so many locals would make The HUB their meeting place. I certainly would if I lived in Bathurst.

I had a little chat with Ross (Owner) and I love his strategic thinking. He obviously loves what he does, and I noticed a lovely rapport between him and his customers, and staff, but it’s not enough to love what you do – strategic thinking makes an incredible difference to the outcomes you create!

So as we step into 2012, I have two big questions for you – simple but profound -

  1. Do you love what you do?
  2. Are you strategic about what you do?

Let me know if you’d like the inspiring, significant outcomes of discovering or rediscovering your passsion, and thinking strategically about what you do, so that you can work with ease and greater impact in the areas that matter to you. A free 20 minute consult can help you clarify your thinking and and answer some questions you may have about coaching and the difference it makes.

Let’s make 2012 a year of living purposefully and making a greater difference.

Cheering you on,
Kerrie

Discussing Stress with an Expert!

Every speaker at the Neuroleadership Summit in San Francisco earlier this month shared some incredible insights and fascinating science – a personal highlight for me was hearing Jessica Payne speak about the neuroscience of Stress, Sleep, Memory and Cognition.

Jessica Payne and Kerrie Phipps at the Neuroleadership Summit San Fransisco

I thought her tips were especially important and very practical – so we had a chat in front of the camera to share some of the gold with you… nevermind that I was slightly jet-lagged! I certainly understood the value of her comments. I’m sure many of you know that long-term chronic stress was my undoing about 9 years ago, and it’s been a long road to recovering my health – especially brain health.

Many people I talk to are under too much stress, for too long, and changes need to be made before your body makes a serious change for you. As Jessica says, moderate stress is ok, but would you describe your stress as moderate and useful, or unhealthy? Does it keep you awake at night? Does it affect your clarity of thinking? Your general wellbeing or relationships?

Here’s some simple tips to help – enjoy the video and find a small change you can make to support your best asset – your brain.

Inspiring Conversations – Guest Blog by Jane Pelusey

Inspiring conversations are a great way to connect with new people. That is what we have experienced at Kerrie Phipps’ Conversations with Entrepreneurs.

I met Kerrie on Facebook. I saw a photo of her with Glenn Capelli, a friend of ours. They were both holding up their books. We had Glenn’s book so, I thought her book Lifting the Lid on Quiet Achievers sounded fantastic. So I ordered it.  Kerrie then sent me a Facebook message. It wasn’t until Kerrie came to Perth and ran the first Conversations with Entrepreneurs that we really connected.

At the recent Gold Coast Conversations with Entrepreneurs, someone commented that we were Kerrie Phipps groupies. And maybe we are. We have been to Conversation events in Perth, Melbourne, Dubbo and Gold Coast. We also met up once in Sydney for lunch at Aria.

What do we love about these events?

  • Meeting inspiring people
  • Watching the events evolve into what they are today and
  • Finding out what interesting, amazing things people are doing.

Our passion is about people who live their passion, and we have a series of books about this. We interviewed Kerrie for our People and Performance book. When we go to a Conversations event we always find someone else to interview like Bethany Simons in Melbourne and Amber Martin in Dubbo. That is the type of person that comes to the events – people who are living their passion.

Photo By Michael PeluseyThe recent Gold Coast event had about 25 people. Many had been to such an event before and were excited about attending again. I think that is because of the genuine connection we make at the event. That in part is because of Kerrie’s ability to “step out of her comfort zone and take other people with her”.  She has a real passion for connecting others and you can feel that in the room. Each time we have been to the event, the evening comes to an end and Kerrie hasn’t actually said what she does. She is so into everyone else’s story, hers becomes second fiddle.

I often wonder where my next Conversation with Entrepreneurs will be. Hey Kerrie… Tahiti sounds nice.
