100 Days of Gratitude – Day 90

Everyday GreatnessI’m grateful for wonderful books.  I came across this one, Everyday Greatness, (Stephen R Covey, David K Hatch) at the library last week when Ethan was stocking up.  It has heaps of great quotes, and some short stories that are incredibly inspiring. I learned more about Abraham Lincoln’s early days, in the chapter titled Humility. His attitude in the face of opposition and outright scorn was amazing.

I don’t have time to read the whole book now, as mine’s getting ready for printing, but taking breaks from the computer I’ve walked around reading a few quotes here and there.

After speaking with Pam Hardgrave from Lillydale, QLD, who is one of the inspiring entrepreneurs in my new book, I found this quote – relevant to Pam who has a great sense of humour, even in challenging times.

“If you’re going to be able to look back on something and laugh about it, you might as well laugh about it now. – Marie Osmond

I have another great book called the pocket book of positives, which my dear friend Sandra Groom gave me last year when she visited us.  It’s useful to have a book like these within reach for when you want a break from the detail of editing, or are doing anything else that drains your energy.

Cheering you on,

Love Kerrie

100 Days of Gratitude – Day 72

MDMI’m so grateful for the opportunity to share the day, the weekend, and the business journey with some very inspiring people.  It’s been said that we are same person 5 years from now except for the books you read and the people you spend time with.  This is an exciting thought, as I read great books, by great people, and spend time with big thinkers; generous people who are passionate and making a difference in the world.

Grateful and blessed,

Love Kerrie

100 Days of Gratitude – Day 47

How to make a silver liningSo grateful today for some very exciting mail… especially for the sender!  Julie Woods, That Blind Woman, from New Zealand, launched her book recently, and popped a couple in the mail to me.  How exciting! The book covers Julie’s first 10 years of blindness, and explores her learning along the way.

Julie has featured in our newsletter a few times – so this book will come as no surprise to many of my readers.  I’m grateful to Julie for not only sharing the journey of the book with me, as her coach, and now her friend, but I’m grateful that Julie is who she is.  One page will have you laughing hysterically, the next will smack you in the face with profound insights that could just change your life.  One of the key ways Julie has impacted my life is by her incredibly creative approach to problem-solving, and the way she explores the learning in everything she does.  She’s one incredibly inspiring woman with a story worth sharing!

100 Days of Gratitude – Day 38

Felicity NewtonFelicity Newton is one of our Create the Life Club members and a most enthusiastic, encouraging one at that!  I’m grateful for Felicity as she is always so positive and encouraging, she says that I’m a breath of fresh air, that I’m so inspiring, but I think people see in others what is in themselves.

I popped in to see Felicity today in her new office and asked her to stand up for a photo in her office so I could share what she has on her wall.  Perhaps a clue to her own positivity and the difference she makes!

Her walls are covered with inspirational quotes and photos of the teenagers and other difference-makers she works with.Felicity runs a program for high school girls called “Glam it up Galz” which is an incredible encouragement for these students.

I’m grateful for her support and encouragement, and grateful that she’s making a powerful difference in young lives.

Go Girl!!

Cheering you on,

Love Kerrie

100 Days of Gratitude – Day 37

In the Middle of Nowhere - Terry Underwood.

In the Middle of Nowhere - Terry Underwood.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to read this book!  In The Middle Of Nowhere is a fascinating read, both educational and inspirational. I bought it after hearing about it from my cousin, who attends college with the Author’s nephew.

Terry Underwood shares generously about her life, her loves and her learning as she adapted to her married life literally, in the middle of nowhere, after meeting her husband as a patient in the hospital where she worked in Sydney.

This isn’t a book review – it’s my gratitude journal for today… I’m grateful to be reminded of my farm background, our pet animals, droughts and downpours and the fun we had, whatever the weather.  I can’t imagine ever being so remote, for such a long time, but it makes me want to spend more time in the great outdoors – and to take my son to spend more time playing and working at my parents farm.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn and reflect, and move forward with more understanding of the world around me, and the people who make up this great country.

Inspiring Quotes

I’m taking a big step this week – launching myself out of the comfort zone and becoming an author!  I am creating a journal, which includes a guide to effective writing and support for achieving goals and I’m including some of my favourite inspriring quotes, not only from the very famous, but also from people in my world, who will most likely be famous one day.  Well their words will be in print!

I thought I’d share a few of my favourite quotes now, why wait for the journal to be printed?  Today’s a great day to encourage someone!

1.  Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase. – Martin Luther King Jr.

Okay, so I’m doing that…  and sometimes I trip on the stairs in my excitement or inexperience, but I get up and keep moving, learning from each experience.

2.  I want to know God’s thoughts. The rest are details. – Albert Einstein

Wow… what’s to be said here?  It’s worth pondering every single day…

3.  Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I think I’m doing okay with this one too… Lyndon was just reminding me last night that I am quite unusual. (I see things so differently to how most people would)  It’s not a bad thing, probably a good thing, but something to be aware of – I can’t guess what people would be thinking!!

4.  Change your thoughts and you change your world. – Norman Vincent Peale

I absolutely, wholeheartedly agree!  I love the question “How could I think about this differently?”  I love that I can be proactive, notice my thinking and change it!  I’m in charge of my brain!  If I leave it on autopilot it might take me down the wrong path!

Well I’ve enjoyed sharing these thoughts, and I’m now getting back to pulling my journal together so it’s out before Christmas.  Hope you’ve enjoyed this too.  If you’d like to send me your favourite quotes, the life-changing ones, please do!  Especially the one’s you’ve made up yourself – gems from your heart and mind.   You never know where they’ll go.

This one comes from a lovely, inspiring client of mine from New Zealand, who went blind as a 30+ mother of two boys. Check out www.thatblindwoman.com to be really inspired.

5.  To lose my sight may have been considered tragic  but to lose my sense of humour would have been catastrophic.  -  Julie Woods – NZ speaker and coach

Julie’s sense of humour is delightful and puts people at ease when they’re around her, unless they’re in stitches from laughing!

I’ll leave you with one that fell out of my mouth last week, and Lyndon wrote it down.

6.  To journal is to be courageous, because one comes face-to-face with oneself.  -  Kerrie Phipps

Have a wonderful day, focus on thoughts that are useful, inspiring and motivating,

Cheering you on,

Kerrie
