Inspiring conversations are a great way to connect with new people. That is what we have experienced at Kerrie Phipps’ Conversations with Entrepreneurs.
I met Kerrie on Facebook. I saw a photo of her with Glenn Capelli, a friend of ours. They were both holding up their books. We had Glenn’s book so, I thought her book Lifting the Lid on Quiet Achievers sounded fantastic. So I ordered it. Kerrie then sent me a Facebook message. It wasn’t until Kerrie came to Perth and ran the first Conversations with Entrepreneurs that we really connected.
At the recent Gold Coast Conversations with Entrepreneurs, someone commented that we were Kerrie Phipps groupies. And maybe we are. We have been to Conversation events in Perth, Melbourne, Dubbo and Gold Coast. We also met up once in Sydney for lunch at Aria.
What do we love about these events?
- Meeting inspiring people
- Watching the events evolve into what they are today and
- Finding out what interesting, amazing things people are doing.
Our passion is about people who live their passion, and we have a series of books about this. We interviewed Kerrie for our People and Performance book. When we go to a Conversations event we always find someone else to interview like Bethany Simons in Melbourne and Amber Martin in Dubbo. That is the type of person that comes to the events – people who are living their passion.
The recent Gold Coast event had about 25 people. Many had been to such an event before and were excited about attending again. I think that is because of the genuine connection we make at the event. That in part is because of Kerrie’s ability to “step out of her comfort zone and take other people with her”. She has a real passion for connecting others and you can feel that in the room. Each time we have been to the event, the evening comes to an end and Kerrie hasn’t actually said what she does. She is so into everyone else’s story, hers becomes second fiddle.
I often wonder where my next Conversation with Entrepreneurs will be. Hey Kerrie… Tahiti sounds nice.
