100 Days of Gratitude – Day 94

Today I’m happy to say that I’m grateful to have sent my completed book to the publisher.  I took the printed book down to Stephen’s Patisserie to read it and enjoy a great coffee and a different environment. Of course I found a few typo’s that have slipped past many proofreaders eyes, so I came back to the office, fixed them, and gave Lyndon the honour of sending the file.  Then we went to celebrate with a little shopping – deciding on seafood to create a fabulous, and quick stir-fry for dinner.  (And chocolate of course) Ethan was so excited and suggested we skip through the shopping centre.  I love that kids don’t care who sees them skipping, so I held his hand and joined him. I’m also grateful that Ethan and Lyndon have both been supporting me in writing and completing the book.

Book completeI’m grateful for the people who have shared their stories with me for the book – they are so inspiring and their words move me even as I proofread and skim over when looking at the chapters from a layout perspective.  I can’t wait to share it with people, and I’m looking forward to reading it over the Christmas break when I can just read to enjoy. There are a few other books on my Christmas holidays list too!

There are so many things I can list that I’m grateful for, but even just in relation to this book project there are many.  The comments I’ve had on my facebook wall from friends have been so encouraging and it’s evidence of the little things we do making such a difference.  Someone may have visited my page for a moment, but leaving their thoughts on it has lifted me a little more.  This is especially lovely when you’re very tired!

Thanks to all who do the little things that make a big difference. So easy, and yet so significant.

Love Kerrie

PS. Lyndon took this pic at 1.25am, when it was all printed out.

100 Days of Gratitude – Day 93

I’m grateful for my facebook world, as I see the impact it has in the real world.
For example, my friend Teonie, is a facebook friend, who I connected with by a reconnection with a school friend.  We’ve discovered a lot of things in common, and she’s introduced me to a company she’s passionate about. It’s a company that pours their profits into fighting poverty.  They provided rickshaws for indian families so they can create an income, and orphanages, which is something I’m passionate about too.
I’ve just ordered my sample pack and poured over the inspiring website – check it out here.

It’s amazing how technology and the speed of change can bring challenges, but the opportunities are just amazing.  Teonie is just one of the beautiful people I’ve connected with through social media, and I love that the connections you can make online can have an incredible ripple effect elsewhere.

100 Days of Gratitude – Day 85

I’m grateful today, as always for my family, tonight I had the pleasure of spending the evening with them as we celebrated my younger brother Greg’s 30th birthday.   It was a great night to catch up with friends too, as I haven’t been here for a few weeks, and I love having the mix of family and friends.  It was fun to hear Dad tell some stories that had everyone laughing so much, actually Greg did too – I love the humour in our family. Dad, David and Greg are all funny and engaging story-tellers.

I took this photo as Lyndon and Dad had just arrived at the party, back from their skydiving day at Forbes (2 hours from here).  Noreen, a skydiving friend had asked them to give Greg a big Birthday hug, so I turned the camera on as quick as I could for this fun moment!

Greg's B'day

I think the most special moment was when Greg’s wife Nicole said that Greg’s known for his lovely easy going, considerate nature and that she wanted people to know that he’s the same at home, and treats her the same way every day.  That made me melt.  I’m so proud of him, and so happy for them both.

Have a wonderful week,
Love Kerrie

100 Days of Gratitude – Day 79

Brianna & EthanI’m grateful for a relaxing day, with a lunch at the Big Banana at Coffs Harbour, which Ethan has been looking forward to all week, followed by visits with friends.  Maree Zwolsman and her daughter Brianna came to visit and we went for a walk “along the beach”. This meant something different to Ethan and Brianna who, fully clothed, “tried” to stay on the edge of the water but were completely drenched in no time.  It was very windy and a little chilly, but that doesn’t matter when you’re nearly 8 or 9.  It was refreshing for all of us anyway, especially once the mum’s let go of the desire to keep the kids relatively dry.

Naomi and Peter have come over for the boys to “go crabbing” at Boambee Bay. Naomi and I are enjoying the quiet – not sure how long that will last, but we’re grateful!

Have a wonderful week, full of moments and people to be grateful for,

Love Kerrie

100 Days of Gratitude – Day 78

Naomi, Peter, KezI love a catch-up with friends we don’t see often! I’m grateful today for a fabulous evening with Peter and Naomi Rees, who moved to Sawtell from Parkes (a nearby town from home).  It’s been over a year, maybe two, since we’ve seen them, although we keep in touch on facebook from time-to-time.

Ethan had a ball playing with their boys, and we reconnected as though there’s been no time between visits.  I’m grateful, as always, for the quality relationships in my world, and specifically tonight for these beautiful, creative, difference-making people.

Hope you’re having a great weekend,

Love Kerrie

100 Days of Gratitude – Day 77

My gratitude today is for the feedback I’ve been getting about this 100 Days of Gratitude blog.  It was just an idea that emerged with a facebook friend who I met for coffee in a nearby town, and I jumped at the idea, thinking it would be a useful exercise for me to actually commit to blogging each day!  I journal most days, and write about what I’m grateful for, but there’s nothing like making yourself accountable to others by sharing it publicly.  I also thought it would be useful to develop my computer and internet skills, which needed a little work.

As a result of simply sharing one or two things (it’s hard to stick with one thing…) I’m grateful for, others have been impacted.

The email that made my day this morning was from a friend who has been keeping up with my gratitude each day, and recording and sharing her own.  She wrote this morning about a client of hers that she shared the concept with, and her client has now taken it to her classroom of young children, in a creative way.  In my friends email she wrote “and it was all brought to mind by being involved with your 100 days of gratitude. I’m guessing the impact will be HUGE. so I again wanted to thank you for the 100 Days of Gratitude, it’s catching :-)

I then received a beautiful note tonight from a friend in the UK who wrote “hey kerrie! happy friday.. i am just so grateful for your gratitude.. it is making me think more positively about my days… you are truly an inspiration…”

So I’m grateful for the feedback, as it’s teaching me that building a little habit can have an amazing ripple effect.  Thank you for sharing the journey.

Cheering you on,

Love Kerrie
