I’ve been asked for a debrief on my past week or so – it’s been so fun and full of amazing people and there’s snippets – photos and comments on facebook, and there’s so much to come, and gems to share. So to get started on sharing the excitement – here’s a few gems.
Gem no.1
Smile at everyone you make eye-contact with – you don’t know how much they might need it or appreciate it. It lifts their day. That matters. You’ve just made a positive difference.
Expect to find new friends. Not because you need them, but because you might discover a mutually beneficial connection, learn from each other, or another opportunity to make a positive difference.
Whilst in Sydney last week, I met up with Hans Kunnen, (who I interviewed a couple of weeks ago – see here Cheering You on – Opportunities) and was telling him about the inspiring young achievers I’d met in the previous 12 hours (approx) and he said “Oh they’re out there!” I loved that he wasn’t surprised at all, which is a response I can get from people. You know, it is normal to come across amazing, inspiring achievers wherever you go. They are out there – in our communities – and reading this :-)
One of the most amazing young people who I told Hans about, is Sacha. I met him at Vivo Cafe near the Apple Store in George St. Another inspiring young person there was Phoenix, a girl who knew Sacha from his inspiring presentation at her high school – where he had a significant positive impact on her life (and countless others).
Sacha, Phoenix & I spent the next couple of hours together, including an Apple Store visit, where I saw more evidence of his connection with strangers. (by then we were already great friends :-). The interest he takes in each person he meets is astounding and beautiful. As we walked back to Town Hall Station I asked if we could share some of our conversation with our friends online – so Phoenix kindly recorded before the next train came! Check it out here –

Gem no.2
People love being given the chance to acknowledge others. I have been giving people the opportunity to nominate inspiring young achievers for our Lifting The Lid On Young Achievers Giveaway – which will be all over social media and beyond very soon. Check out www.liftingthelid.com for more info and you can have the joy of cheering someone on too! The nomination forms I’ve received already have the most beautiful comments.
And now I’m off to a friends wedding! More amazing, significant moments to celebrate :-)
Have an amazing week!
Cheering you on,
Kerrie
PS. There’s plenty more gems – I’ll be back soon to share!
