Let’s find the gifts 2020 offered us.
For at least 15 years, I’ve wrapped up my year with a useful, positive process, even the years that have been soaked in disappointment or heartache. 2020 could be described as that. Also, bewildering, uncertain, devastating … I’m sure you can add other words in there.
I love to invite others to join me in some way, and I held a group session on Zoom last December which unlocked something bigger than I expected. The GOLD process I created for that occasion became something I referred to throughout this year, after one participant, coach Dorothy James, reminded me in April of how useful it was. Dorothy had been using it regularly with her clients and they all loved the simple, insightful process.
Gifts 2020 gave me.
2020 gave me a greater awareness of our local community, and our beautiful walkways.
2020 gave me a prompt to plant some vegetables (with varying success)
2020 gave me more time at home to organise, declutter, connect more with neighbours and welcome an out-of-town paramedic to live with us part-time.
2020 gave me greater empathy for myself and others.
2020 gave me countless opportunities to connect in new ways with people around the world, in podcasts, interviews and all the socials
2020 gave me an intern! I was blessed to have Meenakshi from Coimbatore working with me for 6 months and supporting my efforts in adding more encouragement (and creativity) on social media
2020 gave Lyndon and me the time and space to launch the Connect With Confidence podcast. He, and others, have been suggesting this for a while now.
2020 gave me the opportunity to focus on the book I’ve been thinking about – and it’s almost complete! I’ve included stories from 16 gorgeous people about moments of human connection that decrease anxiety and build confidence. They shared some beautiful and simple stories of moments that created a positive impact with a ripple effect that goes beyond what we imagine.
2020 gave me the nudge to make myself available for more coaching. Even before the pandemic, I was sensing that I needed to share more of the neuroscience and coaching work that underpins the message of Connect With Confidence that I’d been sharing with audiences. It was time to come back to more personalised work with leaders and entrepreneurs to help them do their best thinking. This has led to something extraordinary – watch this space. :)
What is on your 2020 gift list?
What new ideas are you exploring?
I’m so curious and excited to see people innovating and collaborating like never before.
As I’ve written in previous blogs – some are listed below – it’s not useful to simply slam the door shut on the year, but to process it all. I hope that this question, and some of the questions in the blogs linked below are super-helpful.
And have a truly wonderful New Year.
Cheering you on,
Love Kerrie
