Dear Friend,
We arrive at the end of one year and start of another so quickly, although sometimes it feels not fast enough. Do you ever feel like slamming the door shut on the past year and moving forward without a backward glance?
Let’s have a little look at celebrating the exciting stuff of a fresh New Year, and why it’s worth taking a little time out for review. It’s awesome to set new goals, but without a good stash of self-awareness about our strengths and accomplishments, our confidence to achieve our goals can fade fast.
So what were the decisions you made in 2018 and other moments that you’re most proud of?
Who did you connect with who made a difference in your life, personally or professionally?
Who did you help, and who did you most enjoy helping?
Which goals did you achieve and what are you most proud of?
What was uncomfortable, and yet worthwhile? (this could be anything from a horse-ride or a hike to a great view, or a difficult conversation that brought clarity and understanding)
Where did you go?
What did you discover?
And what does this mean for you as you step into 2019?
What new confidence have you discovered, or deeper courage, or conviction?
What strengths can you build upon this coming year?
What learning are you taking forward?
I’m asking myself all these questions over the past week or so – and the past 14 years in one way or another – and I’m amazed at how this process helps me grow.
I’m absolutely delighted to share with you a beautiful tool for planning and dreaming about the coming year – created by my friends Tim and Irene Hamons, @ArtOfAwakening.
Print it off, share with friends and have fun dreaming big and going for it!! I’d love to hear your insights and ideas!
Cheering you on,
Love Kerrie
PS. My journal pages are still being filled with responses to the above questions so there’s way too much to share, so briefly… I’m really happy with the decisions I made to travel in the first half of the year, to challenge myself to grow personally and professionally, and then to stay home for the preparation and duration of my son’s final school exams, helping him to achieve his biggest goal thus far – to join the Air Force – which is no small thing and a long-term goal. He starts in February!
Less travel for speaking engagements meant I was more available to serve individual clients, locally and online, to clarify their values, gain clarity, plan for their next big season (of work, contribution and meaningful retirement), to further develop their leadership and communication and strengthen relationships at work and home. It’s been a more reflective year for me, quieter online and more present with people face-to-face. 2018 has had some significant challenges, but I’ve loved being purposeful in carving out precious family time.
2019 is starting out with some exciting news that I’ll announce soon! More growing, learning and exploring – and many opportunities to Talk To Strangers and build connections worldwide, loving and leading Difference-Makers. Let’s inspire each other to “Do Talk To Strangers” – with confidence, compassion and authenticity – to build a better world.
