Stories from the Camino del Norte
G’day! I’m excited to share my experience on a recent episode of the Connect With Confidence podcast, hosted by the delightful Kerrie Phipps. As someone who has traversed the life changing trail of the Camino de Santiago alone it is also wonderful to share the adventure with others, hence Camino Camaraderie, Sharing Stories of Adventure. I can assure you that our conversation was packed with insights, laughter, and poignant moments that every adventurer or dreamer can relate to.

Connecting with New Friends
In this episode, I also had the pleasure of chatting with Michelle and Brian Coleman of Cruisin with the Colemans fame. Who we met while walking the Camino del Norte in Spain recently. The atmosphere was nostalgic, filled with camaraderie and stories that illuminated the transformative power of the Camino. The shared experience of hiking through stunning landscapes and connecting with fellow pilgrims fosters a rich sense of community. We dove into heartfelt discussions about how the Camino changed us and why it can change anyone who dares to walk its paths, and I encourage you to.
One key theme of our conversation revolves around the friendships forged along the journey. As I echoed in the podcast, there’s a unique bond formed through shared challenges and small victories, such as conquering a steep hill or enjoying a glass of wine at the end of the day. These friendships inspire you to reconnect and cherish the memories long after the journey has ended.
The Beauty of Adventure
Many listeners will resonate with the idea that life is too short to be stagnant. This sentiment was beautifully captured during our discussion, particularly when Michelle spoke about how the Camino has redefined her approach to living life to the fullest. It’s a reminder that stepping outside of our comfort zones can unveil a world of possibilities. Whether your next adventure is a simple weekend getaway or a lengthy pilgrimage, our conversation encourages you to embark on your own journey and embrace the unpredictability that comes with it.
Sip Coffee with Us
A highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the food, and I would like to give a shout-out to David of D’ Coffee in Gijón! For coffee lovers out there, you’ll appreciate our discussions on how the perfect cup of coffee tastes even better after a long day of walking. David’s café has become a beloved stop for Kerrie and I and I am sure for many pilgrims traversing the Camino del Norte, and I can still taste the rich coffee that fueled our strolls by the stunning city of Gihon.
Unpacking Life Lessons
Throughout the episode, we uncovered various life lessons that came to light during our Camino experience. For instance, the importance of perseverance and adaptability in the face of discomfort, whether it’s dealing with challenging terrains or connecting with strangers in a foreign land. One of key moments was when Brian shared his experience of encountering various people along the Camino, highlighting how impactful these connections can be in our lives.
Remember that Irish blessing? “May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back…” It’s these sentiments that resonate deeply with every pilgrim, and it reminded me of the warmth and kindness shared among all those crossing paths on this spectacular journey.
